Europe vs the US: Where is online card management more convenient?

While banking customers still value in-person interactions, they're increasingly reserved for complex needs like applying for a loan or mortgage. 

In the US, only 9% visit a branch as their primary banking method, according to the American Bankers' Association, with 48% preferring to bank using a mobile app. 


Mobile banking is similarly popular in the UK and EU. According to Statista, 73% of UK banking consumers banked via a mobile app in 2024. And, in the rest of Europe, penetration is well over 90% in many countries


But, how easy are banks really making it for customers to perform everyday activities, like managing their card via their apps, without having to call or visit a branch or ATM? 


According to our digital banking research platform FinTech Insights, they still have some work to do, at least in the area of managing cards efficiently online.
